Project planning worksheet
Accessible Entry Planning Checklist
A coordination worksheet for planning an inclusive controlled-entry route without treating a product label as proof of accessibility compliance.
How to use it: copy the prompts into the project brief, record the source and owner for every answer, and leave unknowns open. Do not substitute assumptions for manufacturer data, code review, or field verification.
Route and users
- □ Map the continuous accessible route before, through, and after the controlled entry.
- □ Plan for mobility devices, companions, service animals, visitors, deliveries, and people who cannot use the primary credential method.
- □ Record clear widths, maneuvering space, reach ranges, slopes, thresholds, protrusions, and queue geometry for professional verification.
Controls and operation
- □ Review reader, intercom, button, latch, signage, visual/audible feedback, opening force, timing, and staffed assistance.
- □ Document normal, power-loss, alarm, evacuation, lockdown, and manual-release behavior.
- □ Keep accessible operation available whenever the controlled route is available.
Verification
- □ Identify the governing jurisdiction, adopted codes, project accessibility standard, and reviewing authority.
- □ Require dimensioned drawings and verify installed conditions in the field.
- □ Test with representative users and document remediation ownership before handoff.
