Heritage
Gerrit Boon began his business in Amsterdam in 1873. In 1944, Jacob Boon sought a successor, and Jacobus "Koos" Huber soon took the helm, later relocating the company to Edam and expanding the factory. Boon Edam produced its first revolving door, the Tourniket, in 1903 and went on to pioneer security revolving doors and portals for controlled, anti-tailgating entry. In 2003, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands granted the company its "Royal" title in recognition of 130 years of operation and industry leadership.
Manufacturing
Boon Edam manufactures all of its security entrances, revolving doors, and turnstiles to order. The North American manufacturing facility in Lillington, North Carolina (200,000+ sq ft) produces units for the Americas market and holds OSHA SHARP accreditation for workplace safety excellence. Additional production sites operate in Edam, Netherlands, and China, with the company controlling the full fabrication and integration process in-house.
